The All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed the week
down at 6,280.31 points against its previous weeks closing level of 6,315.19 points
reflecting a week on week depreciation of 0.55% whereas the secondary S&P
SL index also contracted by 0.57% to close the week at 3,459.43 points. The
Bourse continued to observe off-shore investor interest which has reflected a
turnaround into positive territory since last week in net foreign inflows. The
week recorded total foreign purchases of LKR 1,746.9Mn and total foreign sales
of LKR 643 Mn which resulted in a net foreign inflow of LKR 1,103.9Mn. With
this the YTD net foreign inflow has accumulated to LKR 2,095 Mn for the week
ending 23rdMay 2014. The
total market capitalization lost by LKR 14,588 Mn over the week to close the
market at LKR 2.63Tn. Furthermore the market capitalization reflected YTD gain
of 6.93% by the end of the week.
A
total of 117.58Mn shares were changed hands to record a total weekly turnover
of LKR 3.36Bn.The off market deals took place on the stocks ofCOMB, JKH, NDB,
HNB, UML, DISTandPDLfor the total value of LKR 772.56 Mn,which is a
contribution of 23% to the weekly turnovers.
The
list of price gainers were led by KURUWITA TEXTILE (+37.80%), PDL (+19.73%), KELSEY (+14.56%), SINHAPUTHRA FIN [P] (+12.86%) and SERENDIB LAND (+11.09%) while the list of
price losers were led by CEYLON LEATHER [W] (-50.00%), PCH HOLDINGS (-20.00%), CITRUS
LEISURE [W] (-18.18%), S M B LEASING (-15.38%) and CIFL (-14.29%).The week’s
ASPI movement was heavily influenced by the stocks of DIAL, VONE and PDL. The
market PER and PBV scaledto 16.77x and 2.06x respectively by end of the week.
