The
Colombo Bourse was gloomy over the shortened trading week compared to its week
before last. It gained 18.29 points on Monday before it losing ground back
again by 18.20 points on Tuesday, to close the market at flat for Vesakholidays.
However market witnessed some strategic deals which enabled it to gain by 30.23
points once again on Friday, effectively making the Bench mark All Share Price
Index (ASPI) closed at 6,315.19 points higher 30.32 points against its previous
weeks closing and the secondary S&P SL 20 index gained by 21.91 points to
close the week at 3,479.17 points. The Bourse observed a net foreign inflow of
LKR 1,206 Mn during the week which turned around the YTD net foreign inflow to
positive LKR 991.4 Mn by the end of week from its negative value ofLKR 214.78
Mnas of previous week.It’s noted that the YTD net foreign inflow as of last
week had been weakened to negative LKR 214.78 Mn.The total market
capitalization gained by LKR 13,045Mnover the week to close the market at LKR
2.644 Tn.
A
total of 115.98Mn shares were changed hands to record a
total weekly turnover of LKR 3.23Bn.The off market deals took place on the
stocks ofNEST, TILE, JKH, COMB, CINS, LLUB andCTC for the total value of LKR 1.4Bn,which
is a contribution of 43.5% to the weekly turnovers.
The
list of price gainers were led by PARAGON(+24.84%), SIERRA CABL (+22.22%), CITY
HOUSING(+14.29%), LAKE HOUSE PRIN. (+13.52%) and GUARDIAN CAPITAL (+12.22%)
while the list of price losers were led by BIMPUTH FINANCE (-34.65%), PC HOUSE(-25.00%),
LANKA CENTURY [W] (-25.00%), S M B LEASING [X] (-20.00%) and CEYLON LEATHER [W]
(-12.50%).The week’s ASPI movement was heavily influenced by the stocks of BUKI,
AHPL and SLTL. The market PER and PBV climbed to 16.86x and 2.07x respectively
by end of the week.
